Bright and Glowing
"Bright and Glowing" is a miniature choose your own adventure that is currently in progress.
If I'm being honest, I'm not sure if I'll ever actually finish it, or even update it for that matter. It was an idea that I had yesterday night (March 17th, 2025), that seemed like a fun project in the spur of the moment. All of today has been spent doing some writing and brainstorming different events, though the five hour power outage definitely put a dent in the potential progress.
Either way, as it currently stands it is less of a choose your own adventure and more of a linear narrative due to the limited number of actually finished choices. If this seems like a fun worthwhile idea please let me know! It'd motivate me to continue adding on to the current story if I knew people liked it and were interested in what happens next!
Note: Unfortunately, due to the limited nature of Google Sites, each option requires loading a new page. Through much trial and error, this was the only way I was able to make selecting choices less annoying than having a new tab open up each time.
Election Night Radio
"Election Night Radio" was an idea created on the day of the 2024 Presidential Election. Although the original text states that it was written in three hours, I believe that I might have exaggerated the quick turn around time to cover for the stories lack of content. I can't confirm, but it might have actually been around six to eight hours, however that might not be true at all and I'm just being hard on myself for no reason.
I thought it would be fun to provide a break from the stressors of the actual election by creating my own fictional one. Cues were taken from "VG Radio," but I knew that the quality and length of this project would be nowhere near that of "VG Radio", a project which was developed over dozens of hours spanning roughly two weeks.
Regardless, I had a few hours to generate a story, and in spite of the limitations I still wanted to put in as much effort as I could. One of the stories biggest shortcomings I feel is the attempt to pad out the story to fill out as much time as possible. I would have been happy if I could at least get a half hour of decent material. I tried to fluff it up with as many words as possible, an example being the rundown of the state electoral numbers. I liked the idea of this because it lent itself to the notion that this might be actual news coverage, only for that to come crashing down as I report on events that are clearly fictional and absurdist.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to create as much as I would have wanted, and so I added a series of musical breaks to extend the time even further. If I recall correctly, the final show might have had instances where there were two minutes of dialogue followed by three minutes of music. I redid the bit of "we have this thing coming up next, but first: this other thing" similar to teasing the music in "VG Radio", only this time with opening up the phone lines to let people call-in. This event was recorded live and I figured that I wouldn't have very many people watching at first, so I thought it would be a good idea to save the call-in segment for near the end, when hopefully more people would be listening. Sadly, as the show went on I realized that that wouldn't be the case. To save myself from the embarrassment of having zero callers I made an executive decision to manufacture something slightly less embarrassing instead, and pretended that I lost the script. It made saying goodbye a lot easier...
I'm tempted to say it's not my best work, but I think it turned out alright for being an "in the moment" sort of idea. Had this thought occurred to me a few weeks or even days earlier, it might have been a more fleshed out and properly paced story.
VG Radio
"VG Radio" is an audio drama created in 2022 based on Andrew's "VG Radio" live streams. These weekly streams featured about an hour of video game music mostly curated by Andrew, and included remixes and covers by various artists. Earlier streams had a news segment where Andrew would take about video game related news, though this segment wouldn't be featured in many of the continuing episodes.
I had an incredible fondness for these streams, and at some point I thought it would be fun to do a parody of the show. Initially I had wanted the exact opposite of Andrew's productions. While his VG Radio was calm and family friendly, I wanted to create a version of the show that was incredibly loud, vulgar, and annoying.
After a bit of brainstorming, I developed the idea for the show that was the polar opposite but not in the way that I'd originally thought. VG Radio was a show that featured a lot of music, and little news. So, I started writing the draft for a show that was mostly news and no music. My version of VG Radio would pick up on same the beats as the original show (like talking about the weather at the start, for example) but do so with it's own clearly distinct identity. Ideally it would have been obvious that this was "not your mom's VG Radio" (which was the original through line for the scrapped vulgar concept). It would be able to stand out as its own thing while constantly referencing the base it was built upon.
I ended up getting incredibly attached to the final script. As I was writing the Pilot/Test Episode, I realized that this could be something I continue to add on to. The formula lent itself well to continuing installments. Real video game related news happens all the time, I'd just have to figure out how to create a parody of it without dating the episode too hard. Ideally you'd be able to listen to any episode and it wouldn't be outdated by the time you heard it, even if it was years after the initial publication. That's why it was written as a parody news show rather than a genuine news show (although when I was first coming up with the concept, I did briefly consider just covering video game news with complete genuineness and sincerity. As fun as that might have been however it lacked any long term potential).
To this day I still occasionally get a slight desire to write another episode. Should this ever become a continuing series I don't think that I'd be able to pump out a quality 50 minute episode every week, or even every month for that matter. Maybe a biweekly every two weeks not twice a week >:( thing that's 10 to 20 minutes long, if anything.
The Fallacies of Hasbro's Monopoly
"The Fallacies of Hasbro's Monopoly" is the first variant of my undergraduate thesis published in 2019 which examines the game "Monopoly" as a teaching tool. A few months later in 2020 a separate paper was created on this groundwork, placing greater emphasis on Monopoly as a teaching tool for ethics.
The paper has been slightly reformatted to better suite the nature of webpage based reading. As such, some portions may not load correctly or appear different to the original publication.
The Amulet
"The Amulet" is a 2019 short story that I wrote as an exercise in writing fiction. This comes a few months after my joke fanfiction "Turning Over a New Leaf". While that was ultimately a joke, it should be stated that I genuinely put in a serious amount of effort in it. But with this story, I wanted to see if I could apply myself to create a narrative that is a bit more serious, where any of its shortcomings would be immediately attributable to my lack of skill rather than being played off as an element of the broader story.
The initial text plays with the format and utilizes different fonts to convey separate ideas. While not preferred, an alternate version of "The Amulet [Alt Text]" has been created for those who may have difficulty parsing through the original fonts.
Turning Over a New Leaf
"Turning Over a New Leaf" is a 2019 shitpost fan fiction that I wrote for my friend ibuba7. I'd never written a piece of fanfiction prior to that instant, and I wanted to go out of my way to make something as tacky as possible. I don't recall if he ever read it, though I suspect he more likely than not that he did.
I hope he's doing okay.
