While you've been through your share of conflict as a captain for the IPA before, the weight and gravity of the situation at hand almost make you wish that you were assigned to janitorial duties instead. Regardless, out of the thousands of other captains available at the IPA's fingertips, you were deemed the most capable of carrying out such a mission. As such, you take the title of Captain of the Glimmer with pride, ensuring your overseers that within the next 24 hours, the end of the war will dawn.

The ship has been inspected and prepared, the rest of the crew stand ready at their stations. No one feels an air of triumph in knowing that peace may soon be within their reach. Instead, the air is heavy with the burdened responsibilities and the unsettling knowledge that millions of lives are at stake. While it would have been more comforting to share this task with a fleet of IPA ships, within the last few months the Insurrection has become increasingly aggressive. Sending even more than one ship would prompt immediate fire from the Insurrections defenses, regardless of who the IPA says is aboard the ship. Trust is a currency long defunct after decades of underhanded activity from all sides.

Even when, if, the Glimmer should arrive, every single weapon within the immediate area would have its sights pointed squarely at the inbound ship. Should the Insurrection feel that they have been crossed, the would assuredly shoot first and deal with the aftermath later. Perhaps even finding the remains of the daughter would be enough for them to realize that the IPA had good intentions. Or perhaps they would conclude that this would all have been some sort of elaborate set up for an incredibly devious ulterior plan.

Either way it doesn't matter. You have a job to do.
